Many of you have met my sister, Marie-Eve Chainey, she takes care of the bottle shop one or two nights a week and has always helped out as much as she could with my crazy brewery dream. This blog post is not really about her.
It's about much more than that!
It's about much more than that!

This blog post could be about my sister, and it could be about:
- But it isn’t.
- How she became very ill while abroad; or
- How she has a very rare disease (AHUS); or
- How she has been on dialysis for over 14 years now; or
- How a solution to her health exists… but remains unattainable ($700K)
- But it isn’t.
This post could also be about her accomplishments because my sister is alive to strive, so it could be about;

It’s about a cause that is close to our hearts and the only reason the story didn’t conclude in a tragic way! It’s about getting the support needed to get back on your feet in the most literal way possible.
It's about being Alive to Strive!
The Alive to Strive Kidney Fitness Project is a volunteer based non profit organization committed to helping individuals living with chronic kidney disease. It is a front-line organization working directly with individuals to encourage better health and provide a supportive network. Our Active Living grant program focuses on offering front-line services to people living with chronic kidney disease (less than 30% kidney function) in the Ottawa area.

The annual Alive to Strive Race is the only fundraiser for our organization and it’s also our main platform to raise awareness about kidney health and the beneficial effects of physical activity. And I can tell you that Alive to Strive Kidney Fitness Project and the great team of dedicated volunteers organize an awesome race every year! (like last year, and the one before that,...). There is a 1K, 5K, 5K Team Challenge, 5K Wheelchair and 10K, all walk or run. It even includes a delicious warm healthy lunch!
Over the past years I've been giving countless hours of my time as a board member and as the race-course director to do my part in helping out (although they really only know me as "Bro"). This year, in addition to my usual services to the race, I am very happy to announce that our flights for hope program will be going towards supporting the Alive to Strive Kidney Fitness Project for the month of April!

But that's not all we will do!
We also have a Waller St. Brewing Team for the super fun 5K Team Challenge!
We invite all other breweries and absolutely everyone to do the same and set up a team!
See you at the start line on Sunday, April 24th!
